Privacy notice: farmbook members
Last updated 20 October 2026.
Who we are
farmbook (fb.bucklerfamily.estate/m) is a private social network for the family and friends of Tŷ Mawr (Great House Farm), Llandough. The family runs it and is the data controller. Contact: sales@bucklerfamily.estate.
What we hold
- Account: your name, email address, and a one-way scrambled (hashed) copy of your password. Nobody can read your password, including us.
- If you sign in with Google, Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn: that service's ID for you, your name and, where it gives them, your email and profile picture.
- Your profile: photo, cover photo, bio, relation to Tŷ Mawr, and your privacy setting.
- What you share: posts, photos, comments, likes and your friends list.
- Guests (family passcode): no name or email; a 24-hour sign-in cookie only.
- Security: to stop abuse we keep, for up to 24 hours, a scrambled code made from your internet address that changes daily. We don't store IP addresses.
Why we use it (lawful basis)
To run the network you asked to join (contract), and to keep it safe from spam and abuse (legitimate interests). What you post you choose to share with family members, or with everyone if you make it public (consent: change the setting or delete it at any time).
Who can see it
Profiles and posts are visible only to signed-in, approved family members (and family guests) unless you make your profile or a post public. Search engines are told not to index member pages. Photo addresses are long random links, so anyone you send a photo link to can open it.
Cookies
One essential cookie keeps you signed in (30 days; 24 hours for guests), and a short-lived one protects social sign-in. No advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
Where it's stored
On Cloudflare's servers (our hosting provider), which act on our instructions. We don't sell or share your data with anyone else.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it or delete your account. Deleting your account removes your profile, posts, photos, and your comments and likes on member posts straight away. Comments on the archive posts stay unless you ask us to remove them.
Your rights (UK GDPR)
You can see and download your data (Edit profile → Download my data), correct it (Edit profile), delete it (Delete account), and object to or restrict how we use it. Email us and we'll reply within one month. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
farmbook is for people aged 13 and over.
